I suspect it could be set up to work as you. All management is done graphically on the Mac and content serving handled by the container. ![]() Im running calibre locally on a Mac, sharing the config/library over nfs to a cops container running elsewhere. There are other ways to do that (such as rsync), thereby avoiding the size limitations. If so, you might look at the linuxserver/cops docker container. Note that in my VPS scenario, dropbox is acting only as a transfer agent. Otherwise, Aldiko has you covered for every eBook need you have. Of course, I set compatibility to 'ALDIKO' when generating my catalog. First I tried using the Calibre2opds + Dropbox method as outlined here and here. ![]() Hi, So I've been trying to get my Calibre catalog onto my Android device (Milestone 2.1) using Aldiko. In other words, when I start up the calibre server with 'calibre-server -port 8083,' I get the default auth name from my personal information and not the name 'calibre.' The inclusion of the correct user name strikes me as a security issue. However, these have to be made in ePub format. Calibre2opds and Calibre content server -> Aldiko. If not, then you need to use links of the form. I don't know if aldiko is automatically recognized by calibre as an OPDS reader. ![]() Try using your server's IP address, probably something like .y where x and y depend on your setup. It takes in eBooks in any and all types of formats. My guess is no, and I also guess that aldiko can't handle netbios names. Aldiko is an excellent ePub format reader. It does cost something (as low as $90/year, but probably more like $150), but for that you get good network pipes (not a home ADSL), professional management of hardware, RAID disks, better security (your home net isn't open), and other functionality such as personal mail domains. Comparatively, other book readers such as Nook and Calibre, fail to come close. You also need to have the dropbox account credentials.įor those of you who are somewhat technical, I think the easiest way to get something like this working is to pick up a cheap VPS or virtual host somewhere, stick dropbox on it, and have it replicate the calibre2opds-created library into the machine's webspace. They supply you with a file explorer interface, not an html/browser interface. You can access the copies on dropbox with a browser, but it is painful. if the aldiko don't recognized it close the app and reopen it again. Can you directly access the dropbox copy on the web with a browser or opds-capable device (or do you need to echo it back to a local machine via dropbox?) But you dont need to pay for that, there is a server function integrated in calibre that allows you to browse your books from either aldiko, FBReader or MoonReader+ FOR FREE I am using this function successfully with my Pocketbook IQ and those three apps, so really, having to pay 2. transfer or share it to android and open using aldiko app.Ĥ. open the file using the open containing location option of calibre, and choose the converted file epub.ģ. Convert the ebook using the calibre in pc with book cover you like in epub format.Ģ. Here step I tried to solved this problem:ġ. There is a full command line interface and I found a guide that helped with this process at Digital Ocean. Since I was installing this on a headless server I would not be able to do the setup that way. You will see an output like this: calibre server listening on 0.0.0. ![]() The aldiko don't recognized the book cover but calibre recognized it. Setup Calibre is normally used as a desktop app that has a server component. calibre-server calibre-library calibre-server is the command used to start our server and calibre-library is the name of the directory we created earlier and told calibre to use as our library. I also encounter the problem regarding the book cover. on the client side, and our goal for Aldiko is to reach full compliance in the near future. I'm also a user to calibre in window pc and aldiko in android tablet. My test bed Calibre server OPDS feed may be found here. Since I'm just learning how to get all this stuff into the tablet, I'm really confused about which method seems to keep everything intact.Īny advice or suggestions for keeping my created covers with the files in this process would be appreciated! I've imported many of these through the content server, and some through Dropbox (where I keep my Calibre library), and others, well, I'm just not sure how the heck I did it. On others, the cover I've created doesn't show up, but the file's original front page does instead. When some of my books import into Aldiko, they have the cover image (generated from the plug-in) intact and it shows up on the Aldiko Shelf thumbnail. I have Aldiko 2.1 installed on my Android 2.3 tablet and am using Calibre 8.33 to manage my library.
